Later this month, the awards will be broadcast from New Jersey’s Prudential Center

This month’s VMAs will feature two global superstars: Brazilian pop star Anitta and reggaeton juggernaut J Balvin. In Marshmello x Khalid, the EDM artist and R&B singer team up with pop-punk group Panic! The (announced) lineup is completed by At The Disco.

In addition to performing her new song “Envolver” live for the first time ever, Anitta is also nominated for her first VMA in the “Best Latin” category, making her the first Brazilian artist nominated in that category.

Despite the fact that he is a fellow Latin star, J Balvin returns to the VMAs stage at a different moment in his career than Anitta.

If the “Prince of Reggaeton” is able to come home with the award he has been nominated for, “Best Latin,” it will mark his sixth VMA award and make him the most-awarded Latin artist in the history of the VMAs.

This is further proof that there is always more firsts to celebrate, as J Balvin, who last performed at the awards in 2019 with Bad Bunny, will also be showcasing his brand new single “Nivel de Perreo” with Ryan Castro.

Marshmello x Khalid is also a first-time collaboration on the Grammys, although both artists have previously been nominated for the award.

Marshmello, the five-time nominee, will make his main-stage debut at this year’s Grammy Awards. On the other hand, Khalid will return for the first time since his first appearance at the awards in 2017, when he won “Best New Artist” the same night. After collaborating on the 2017 song “Silence,” the duo is set to release their new single together titled “Numb.” This is their first collaboration since “Silence.”

While on the other hand, Panic! It is worth noting that At The Disco is a veteran VMA group, and they have also performed in 2018 at the VMAs.

It should be noted that in addition to being a top-billed band at the ceremony in the past, Panic! At The Disco has also been nominated for nine VMAs, and won their first VMA in 2006 for “Video Of The Year.” The group is also nominated this year for “Best Alternative Video” at the VMAs.

On Sunday, August 28th at 8pm E.T./P.T., the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will be aired on MTV.
