The Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna was arrested early Friday morning near Atlanta for driving under the influence of alcohol.
As a matter of fact, it was Ozuna’s second arrest in as many years.
As a result of police officers reporting that they witnessed him strangling and assaulting his wife on May 29, 2021, he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and battery.
After completing a pretrial diversion program, the charges against him were dropped.
In metro Atlanta, Ozuna is now facing more legal problems after he was arrested by a Norcross Police officer for violating his bail terms.
In the early hours of Friday morning, he was booked into the Gwinnett County jail at about 4:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

It has been made public that the Atlanta Braves are aware of the arrest of Marcell Ozuna this morning, and they are still gathering all the facts regarding the incident, the team said in a statement.
There is no doubt that our organization views these matters very seriously, and we are obviously disappointed by the situation as it stands.
As this is a legal matter, we will not be able to provide any further comments until the process has been completed.
It was not known what Ozuna’s status would be for Friday night’s game against the Houston Astros.
The 31-year-old Ozuna is in his third season with the Atlanta Falcons. Currently, he is in the second year of a four-year, $65 million contract with the team.
As a result, Ozuna hit .338 and led the National League with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs during the 2020 season.
For two consecutive seasons, he has hit below .215 on the batting average, and this season’s poor performance has led to his playing time being reduced even before his new legal troubles surfaced.
This season, Ozuna is hitting .214 with 20 home runs and 46 RBIs for a batting average of .214.
During the inquiry conducted by Major League Baseball following Ozuna’s arrest in 2021, he was placed on administrative leave during the investigation and missed Atlanta’s run to the World Series championship.
In November, MLB suspended Ozuna for 20 games under its domestic violence policy, allowing him to return for the start of the new season.
During spring training in March, Ozuna apologized to his teammates and fans for his behavior.
I am going to give you my best, and I am going to be a better person, and I apologize for what happened,” Ozuna said at the beginning of spring training.
Ozuna completed a pretrial diversion program under the conditions established by the Fulton County District Attorney’s office in order for the previous charges against him to be dropped. A supervision period of 3-6 months was included in the program.
Furthermore, he was also ordered to complete a 24-week family violence intervention program, 200 hours of community service, and an anger management course as part of the sentence.
