As a result of an internal review, it was discovered that some samples of the product contained trace levels of benzene in them.

Although benzene is not included in any Banana Boat product, it was found that unexpected levels of benzene were present in the propellant that sprays the product out of the can,” according to a press release released by the company on July 29.

There are no other batches of Hair & Scalp (either before or after these batch codes) and no other Banana Boat products that are subject to this recall, and consumers may continue to use them safely and in accordance with the instructions provided in the announcement.

The lot codes of the recalled products, located at the bottom of the cans, are 20016AF, 20084BF, and 21139AF, which are the serial numbers of the products.

Multiple retailers throughout the country distributed the sunscreen sprays, which are packaged in aerosol cans, to consumers throughout the country.

Retailers have been informed to remove the recalled products from their shelves as soon as possible by Edgewell.

As a result of the recall, Banana Boat will offer reimbursement to people who purchased any of the recalled products.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected product and dispose of it appropriately, the company said in a statement.

In terms of human health, benzene has been classified as a carcinogen. A colorless or light yellow liquid, with a sweet odor, exists at room temperature in the form of a liquid. As a result, it is highly flammable.

The chemical can be inhaled, ingested, orally ingested, and absorbed through the skin by humans.

There is a possibility that it will cause cancer, such as leukemia and blood cancers of the bone marrow, as a result. There is also a possibility that it can result in blood disorders that can lead to death.

According to Edgewell, no adverse events have been reported as a result of this recall to date. According to the company, the presence of benzene in the environment is widespread.

It is estimated that human beings around the world are exposed to it on a daily basis both indoors and outdoors from a variety of sources.

It has been determined that daily exposure to the benzene found in the recalled products would not be expected to cause adverse health effects according to an independent health assessment based upon established guidelines for exposure modeling.

The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
