Trinamool Congress National general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will consolidate the party’s organization network in Meghalaya during his visit to the state this month and campaign in Tripura ahead of by-polls.

Banerjee is likely to visit Meghalaya on June 16 for his party’s organizational work and consolidation of the party in Meghalaya, sources told ET.

Following his visit to Meghalaya, Banerjee will reach Tripura for campaign in the last leg, ahead of the bypolls in four constituencies. Banerjee, at present is in Dubai, with his wife Rujira Banerjee for his eye treatment.

According to a senior Trinamool Congress leader, Abhishek Banerjee will campaign in all the four constituencies extensively in Tripura which will go to by-polls. Details of the campaign plans are yet to be finalized.

Bypolls are being held in Agartala, Town Bardowali, Surma and Jubarajnagar Assembly constituencies. BJP candidate and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Congress heavyweights Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Kumar Saha have filed their nomination papers.

Trinamool will focus on extensive campaign by Abhishek Banerjee in the Constituency where Manik Saha is contesting, sources said.

The polls were necessitated as the legislator from the Surma constituency got disqualified as he joined the Trinamool Congress. Former Assembly speaker RC Debnath reperesnting Jubarajnagar assembly segment, died mid-term, vacating the seat. The other two seats went to polls as the sitting Agartala and Town Bardowali MLAs resigned from their seats.
