It took Brett Baty just over three years to go from being a first-round pick to making his MLB debut after he was drafted in the first round. For the Mets, it only took one at-bat for him to make his mark.

During his first career plate appearance on Wednesday, Baty homered in the second inning of the game against the Braves, driving in two runs in his first career plate appearance.

After a standout minor-league season in which he batted .315/.410/.533 with 19 home runs across Double-A and Triple-A, Baty was called up from Triple-A on Tuesday, following a breakout minor-league season in which he batted .315/.410/.533.

Is there anything you can do to make the night even more special? He was able to see it in person with his family on hand to witness it.

Baty was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2019 draft out of Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas.

As a consensus Top 100 prospect coming into this season, he was also selected as the organization’s representative for the Futures Game in 2021.

There is a reason for Baty’s arrival in Queens, and it has to do with the Mets’ need for depth in the infield.

The fact that both Eduardo Escobar and Luis Guillorme are currently on the injury list allows Baty the opportunity to carve out a role for himself on a team that is currently in the first place.

No matter how long Baty’s first major league stint lasts, he is sure not to forget his first at-bat for a long time to come.
