Google is showing its love to BTS ARMY.

In celebration of BTS ARMY’s ninth anniversary on July 9, 2022, Google has launched two new collaborations with the K-pop superstars.

Google Search will unlock a secret Easter egg for fans who search for “BTS” starting Friday (U.S. time zones).

Click on the purple heart icon adjacent to the BTS header in the upper left-hand corner of the search results page for BTS (on mobile or desktop).

If you click on the microphones on the purple balloons with your mouse or keyboard, you will hear special audio messages from the band members themselves.
Variety quotes Elissa Wolf, Google’s lead delight features software engineer, as saying, “BTS has an incredibly positive energy that we wanted to bring to Search.”

Adding to that, she said, “I am a huge BTS fan myself, so I was thrilled to be part of this project!”
Additionally, BTS ARMY is being celebrated by Google Arts & Culture in “BTS x Street Galleries.”

The collaboration allows fans to tour cities and buildings that hold special memories for the group. RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook will create exclusive photographs and artworks for each of the 14 locations.

In addition, BTS hosted the #MyBTStory challenge exclusively on YouTube Shorts.

A special ARMY tribute video will be released next Wednesday, July 13, on BTS’ official YouTube channel to conclude the monthlong challenge, which invited fans to share their most unforgettable BTS memories.

ARMY, which stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth, is BTS’ official name for their adoring fans.

They are the third most subscribed music artists on YouTube (after Blackpink and Justin Bieber) with over 67 million subscribers on their official YouTube channel, BangtanTV. YouTube’s Billion Views Club has featured six music videos from the group so far. YouTube’s top spot in that metric was taken by “Butter”‘s first 24-hour view total of 108.2 million.

The second most viewed video was BTS’s “Dynamite,” which had 101.1 million views in the first 24 hours.

The official announcement of the BTS Army’s name takes place on July 9th. Through its Arts & Culture platform, Google has released a street view experiment in collaboration with the band as Twitter celebrates its anniversary.

A virtual tour of the group’s favorite artworks is presented in the BTS x Street Galleries exhibition.

BTS fans will be able to recognize the virtual galleries each member has curated throughout public spaces. RM guides fans through Seoul’s Namdaemun, where BTS performed for the 2021 Global Citizen Live festival; J-Hope decorates the UN General Assembly, where BTS gave an address and filmed a music video last year.

RM, the leader of BTS, recently discussed his collection on the Art Basel podcast, but some of the members haven’t revealed their tastes yet.

Even with minor glitches, the experience offers an interesting look at each member’s artistic interests and personality. In a letter to Antonio Corradini, Jin writes, “Everyone knows I’m handsome, just like this hunky Adonis.” In a photo of a rowboat, V describes a rowboat as “my kind of jam.” The most Jungkook statement anyone has ever made is that cloud photos are the most fun to take.

As well as famous galleries and other tourist attractions, such as the Alhambra and the Pyramids of Giza, the Arts & Culture platform offers online tours. A potential conversation starter, BTS x Street Galleries are part of the “Experiments” section where artists can experiment with more eclectic ideas.
