Denise Dowse, Director And ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Actress, Dies At 64

Actress and director Denise Dowse, who appeared in dozens of television shows during her prolific career, including “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Insecure,” and “Ray,” has passed away, her family confirmed to CNN on Sunday. She was 64 years old when she passed away.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you of her passing,” the actress’ sister Tracey Dowse said in a statement.

On the actress’ Instagram account, she also announced the death of her sister, remembering her as a passionate advocate for African American theater, and also for sharing the profession with the younger generations.

It was for the Amazing Grace Conservatory, an inner-city youth theatre training program, that Dowse acted and directed plays for the Negro Ensemble Company, as well as directed plays for the Negro Ensemble Company.

It is well known that Dowse is known for her role as Mrs. Yvonne Teasley in the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210 and she recently appeared in the HBO comedy series “Insecure” as Molly Carter’s (Yvonne Orji) therapist in the HBO series.

Aside from acting in dozens of movies and TV series, Dowse has also directed a number of films, including “Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story,” which had its premiere at the Pan African Film Festival just a few months ago.

In Grey’s Anatomy, Denise Dowse plays Lorraine Simms alongside Kevin McKidd as Dr. Owen Hunt, Jesse Williams as Dr. Jackson Avery, and Greg Germann as Dr. Thomas Koracick in the role of Dr. Thomas Koracick.

A statement was released by Dowse’s manager, Sandra Siegal from Siegal Company, on Sunday in memory of her client and good friend.

Sadly, I am saddened by the passing of our brilliant, beautiful, elegant, eloquent, and loving Denise, whom I have had the pleasure of managing and collaborating with on her career for over 25 years, as well as developing a close friendship with over the years. It is a great loss for me, but I have gained so much from knowing her.

Denise’s legacy and memory will endure forever, for she touched so many people,” Siegal said.

Her IMDB profile states that Dowse appeared in several TV series throughout her decades-long career, including “Charmed”, “Girlfriends”, “The West Wing” and “Law and Order.” She also had roles in movies including “Pleasantville” and “Requiem for a Dream,” according to her profile.
