An Ev That Qualifies For The Inflation Reduction Act Tax Credit In 2022

As you may have heard, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act earlier this week. As a result of this new program, drug prices are tamed (at least for people on Medicare), investments are made in the environment, and all of this is paid for through higher corporate taxes. In spite of that, you’re not here for any of those things – you’re here to see the cars.

Also, the Inflation Reduction Act extended the $7,500 tax credit that we all know and love, but added a number of restrictions to the credit.

In spite of the fact that many of these regulations will not kick in until the end of 2022, or even years later, there is one major caveat that will be in place: A requirement that all EVs must undergo final assembly in North America in order to qualify.

The question is, which of these EVs are actually built here? In addition to the American automakers, what other companies have plants that qualify for this program? In the perfect world, there would be a list, some resource that would identify every EV that is manufactured in the U.S. for the U.S. market.

This is something that should be made by someone.

Cadillac Lyriqs are produced in China for the Asian market, but they are manufactured right here in the United States for the North American market.

In addition to the company’s similarly-sized ICE cars, Cadillac builds the electrified crossover in Spring Hill, Tennessee alongside its similarly-sized ICE vehicles.

The Cadillac Lyriq starts at $62,990 before the tax credit, and it claims to be able to travel up to 312 miles on a single charge from its 100 kWh battery pack.

We just started delivering to preorder customers last month, so don’t be surprised if it takes a few more months before you see one of them in a showroom.
