Friday morning saw Indian equity markets open on a strong note after supportive cues overseas and moderation in foreign outflows. As of 09:17 IST, the Sensex was trading up 297.67 points or 0.55 percent at 54476.13, while the Nifty was up 87.60 points or 0.54 percent at 16220.50. Approximately 1409 shares are up, 445 are down, and 87 are unchanged.

Following gains on Wall Street, Asian shares opened higher on Friday, with investors focused on data on US monetary policy due in the next few days. In Asia-Pacific outside Japan, MSCI’s broadest index grew by 0.81 percent.

Taking cues from US monetary policy data due in the coming days, Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following gains on Wall Street. Ahead of the opening bell, the Nikkei 225 index advanced 0.49 percent, or 129.69 points, to 26,620.22, while the Topix index advanced by 0.35 percent, or 6.63 points, to 1,888.96.
