What Is Apple’s Expected Release Date For The iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Pro?

There is no doubt that the biggest special event of Apple’s year, or of most years anyway, is when it unveils its new iPhone.

It looks like there will be four of them this year, which is a record number for the event. But when, exactly, will they be announced, when will they go on sale, and what will they be called when they go on sale? Read on.

Because Apple is a creature of habit, we can draw a lot of information about what is likely to happen this year based on what has happened in the past.

What Is Apple’s Expected Release Date For The iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Pro?

Apple is said to be planning the release of the most varied range of iPhones ever this year based on reports about this year’s iPhone release schedule. I will go into more detail about that in a moment.

It seems that more and more reports are pointing to the date I have suggested below as being the likely one.

According to an analysis by 9to5Mac, the same date of September 13 appears to be the most important.

According to a tweet by leaker iHacktu, there will be a presentation of the iPhone 14 on September 13, 2022.

In addition, a recent report from Euronews stated that “From what I understand, Apple has something planned for “Week 37” internally.

Cupertino is known for the fact that all of its events are held on Tuesdays. Week 37 is the week beginning September 12, which narrows everything down to exactly the same time.

It’s important to remember that two predictions do not necessarily indicate extra certainty, but the mention made by LeaksApplePro, who has a decent track record, suggests that there is more information at play. That’s good to know, so that’s helpful.

On the other hand, Tom’s Guide today confirmed that it also believes that September 13 is the most likely date for Apple’s new iPhone, working out the date from the same leaks and information as well as the recognition that Apple is a creature of habit and that this is likely to be consistent with its past practices.

There is also speculation as to what other details of the release schedule are about to be revealed, such as which iPhones are about to be canceled as well.

It is suggested, and I agree with it, that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will be removed from the market as soon as the new models are announced.

Hence, if it’s a Pro you’re after, it’s best to grab it before September 13: Apple retires phones on the day of the announcement, not on the day of the release of the new models.

However, if you want a Pro iPhone, you may be better off waiting until the iPhone 14 Pro goes on sale if you want one.

In terms of Apple’s routine, there is something interesting: the Pro and Pro Max are Apple’s most expensive iPhones, so it might seem reasonable to expect a company to keep them in the line for as long as they can, but Apple chooses to get rid of them after just one year.

It is also likely that the oldest iPhone available right now, the iPhone 11, will also be retired in September as well, making it the third iPhone to reach this milestone.

The regular Apple routine has the advantage this year that all the Face ID iPhones will have the same design language, with flat-screen and straight edges as opposed to pillowed glass and rounded antenna bands on previous Face ID iPhones. Just the iPhone SE will be able to take advantage of this softer finish.

It is recommended that you move before September 13 if you prefer the cozy hand-feel that this design offers.

If these details are right, Apple will be able to offer a more diverse range than ever before if these details are correct.

In addition to the two iPhone 14 Pro models, there will be a regular iPhone 14 model, as well as for the first time an iPhone 14 with a big screen.

However, there will also be the iPhone 13, at a suitable reduced price, as well as the iPhone 13 mini, which will surely also be available.

Oh, and the iPhone SE is also a very affordable phone. Also, there are two more possibilities: the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini.

I believe that the iPhone 12 will be around for quite a while, but the iPhone 12 mini may not.

It is not so much because it was not as successful as the iPhone SE, but because it would have to be priced at not much more than the iPhone SE, which would be confusing for customers.

To put it another way here’s what I expect to be announced on September 13 as the full iPhone range: the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max (if that’s what it’s called), the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Following that, there will be an iPhone 13, an iPhone 13 mini, an iPhone 12, and an iPhone SE.

As of now, there will be eight types of phones, but there will be a greater variety of types than before so that there will be something for everyone.

It’s September

A very few exceptions exist when it comes to Apple’s preferred month of launching its flagship phones, which is September.

During the first week of January 2007, Apple unveiled its first iPhone to the world. The next three, the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3Gs, and the iPhone 4, were introduced at WWDC in June 2008, 2009, and 2010.

Then it was decided that the unveiling would take place in the fall. In October of 2011, the iPhone 4s was released to the public.

Since then, September has always been the month when announcements and releases are made. I suppose there was just one exception to that rule, which was when Covid pushed back the release date of its software to October of 2020.

It was a record-breaking early cancellation when the iPhone 13 was launched in September, which meant the iPhone 12 Pro series had been taken off the market after 11 months, not 12 – making it Apple’s earliest cancellation to date.

In spite of the fact that Covid-19 is still with us, there is a lot of normality in the world and on the production line that makes us confident that September will be the chosen month for the release.

There is a difference between an announcement and a release

Generally, the onsale date of the handset is 11 days after it is unveiled, but there are times when this may not be the case.

In September 2017, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X were both announced on the same day, but the iPhone X actually came out in November of the same year.

In a similar fashion, the iPhone XS and XR products were announced on the same day the following year, but the XR came a few weeks after the XS was announced.

Is there going to be a delay in any of the models this year?

As of right now, we do not know what will happen. According to rumors, one of the models, the iPhone 14 Max, may be delayed due to production issues.

There is still plenty of time before the release for things to change quite a bit, but we are still a long way from it.

What is the exact date?

There is no doubt that Apple prefers Tuesdays as its best day for special events, but Mondays and Wednesdays are also possibilities. It is necessary for press representatives to fly in from all over the world on Tuesday because of the need for them to attend the conference.

The company always chooses either the first or second week of September to release its new products, rather than later in the month, which gives us a choice of two dates to choose from, Tuesday, September 6, and Tuesday, September 13. Since Monday, September 5 is Labor Day, that rules out the 6th of September since it is Labor Day.

Are you assuming that it will be a live event?

In my opinion, this is the most important question of all. It’s possible that either date can be chosen if this is a virtual event, however, my guess is that Apple is going to want either a full in-person event or a hybrid set-up like what was used for WWDC: a glossy, high-production-value movie that is made in advance but is screened in person at the event.

If things were to take a turn for the worse from a Covid perspective, then the in-person element could be canceled, but there would still be something to show the world in the event of a setback.

Despite the fact that Apple will exert every effort to hold an in-person event, I believe the company will have its Hollywood-blockbuster recording ready for release before the event even takes place.

What does that mean?

It is possible for it to take place anywhere in the first two weeks if it is a virtual-only event, but I am pretty sure that it will be a hybrid event, so either Wednesday, September 7, or Tuesday, September 13 seems most likely to me as the dates.

It is Tuesday, September 13 that I am putting my money on.

This means that the phones would go on sale on Friday, September 23, 2022, which is when the phones are expected to go on sale.

Can you tell me what time it is?

Well, I did promise that I would be as precise as possible. The meeting will begin, as it always does, at 10 AM local time and, as I’m sure it’ll take place in Cupertino, that’s 10 AM Pacific time.

Could you please tell me what the name of the event will be?

In the past year, there was some debate over whether Apple would call its upcoming 2022 release the iPhone 12s or iPhone 13 when it is released.

I believe it is safe to assume that we can expect an iPhone 14 this year as Apple went straight for the iPhone 13 this year.

In terms of the premium phone, it’s a shoo-in to be the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, leaving the iPhone 14 as the fourth option.

This product has mostly been referred to as the iPhone 14 Max, as it is expected to have a 6.7-inch display, like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is also expected to have a 6.7-inch display.

But a recent report suggests that it could be called iPhone 14 Plus instead. We’ll see.

More details will emerge, I’m sure, in the run-up to September, so please check back.
