Ludhiana: Teen Killed With Axes, Swords In Public View At Hospital; Rivalry, Say, Cops
During a fight with some men at the civil hospital in this city earlier this week, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a group of men who had earlier attacked him, according to a police report on Friday.
Shravan Kumar, a resident of EWS Colony here, was killed by two people, police said, and two people have been arrested for the murder, they said.
As the attackers carrying sharp-edged weapons barged into the emergency ward at around 9.30 pm on Thursday night, images from hospital CCTV showed hospital staff and patient attendants diving for cover in an effort to avoid being harmed.
In the EWS Colony, there was a fight between two rival groups based on old enmities, according to Ludhiana’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gurdev Singh.
The fight injured Shavan, who was taken to the hospital for treatment. Multiple stab wounds were inflicted on him after the accused reached the civil hospital.
Injuries to his body led doctors to rush him to nearby CMC Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The matter has been reported to the police and seven people have been charged. Singh said two of the accused have been arrested.
The incident was reported as a result of an FIR filed by the police, in which the group of assailants attacked the youth in the presence of doctors, nurses, and patients.
The assailants carried swords and axes, and they attacked the youth with them.
The report in The Indian Express stated that the youth, who had tried to save his life, was attacked by a group of men who smashed the glass windows and doors at the hospital.
A special police post (chowki) had been set up inside the premises of the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana, but the incident is said to have unfolded despite the police setting up a special post inside the premises.
Several police officers are posted at the Civil Hospital police post under the command of Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajinder Singh, according to Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kaustubh Sharma, but none of them were on duty last night.
According to CP Sharma, the matter has been marked for inquiry, and the appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the outcome.
There has also been a letter sent to the local administration and the police from the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMCIA), demanding that adequate security arrangements be made at the civil hospital, especially the emergency ward, within the next 24 hours.
In an ultimatum, they said they would shut down the hospital’s services if security at the hospital was not increased.
