A number of solid performances were put in by the center-back while he was playing out of position at left-back, reflecting his impressive versatility on the pitch.
With Aymeric Laporte out until September with a knee injury, Guardiola chose to deploy Ake as a left-back in the vacant position, rather than John Stones who was injured at the beginning of the season.
As a result, the 27-year-old made the most of his opportunity and put in an impressive performance in City’s win against The Hammers.
At his pre-Bournemouth press conference, City’s manager was asked if he needed to reassure Ake that he was an important part of the squad and that he would be on the pitch against Bournemouth.
‘Absolutely not,’ the Spaniard replied, via Mancity.com. “The players know that I want everyone to be happy at City, and there are always rumors and offers during the summer transfer window. Maybe he had an offer as well.”.
Despite the fact that no player is happy to find themselves consistently on the bench, Guardiola is pleased with Ake’s attitude despite his lack of minutes, saying: “But it is not because I am now happy with how Nathan is playing now, it’s because of what he does.”. I was in a fantastic place last season. There is no way you can imagine how nice that guy is.
My favorite thing about working with nice people is how much I enjoy working with them. There is a lot of people I understand and you can’t believe how nice he is.
There is always a need to be patient in moments because the calendar is crazy at the moment.

As a matter of fact, Nathan is sad when he does not play… which is a natural reaction for him.
It is true that he is exceptional when it comes to training and later in the locker room, but he is exceptional when it comes to training.”
In light of how well Ake performed against The Irons, it would not be surprising if the Dutch center-back remained in The Cityzens’ squad in the upcoming match against Bournemouth.
