Nandamuri Balakrishna celebrates his 62nd birthday

Legendary actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, fondly known as Balayya, celebrates his 62nd birthday today.
The Telugu megastar is the sixth son of N. T. Rama Rao, who was the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and also a great actor himself.

Balayya debuted in the Telugu film industry at the tender age of fourteen. Since then, he has been acting in movies, and the count goes to more than a hundred films to date.

1. Legend

Legend was released in 2014. Nandamuri had the dual role of two brothers in the film, Jaidev and Krishna.

The film was a massive hit at the box office, and he got his third “Nandi Award for Best Actor” for this film, Legend.

The cast of this film also had two leading female actors from Bollywood – Radhika Apte and Sonal Chauhan. Nandamuri had garnered quite some accolades for this film.

2. Gautamiputra Satakarni

Gautamiputra Satakarni is a noteworthy film in Balakrishna’s career. It was released in the year 2017, and it commemorates his 100th appearance in cinema.

The film is based on the biography of the 2nd century AD king Gautamiputra Satakarni, who was from the Satavahana dynasty.

This was one of the most challenging roles for Nandamuri, but he did justice to the character and the royal grandeur of the historical ruler Gautamiputra Satakarni, whose life he portrayed on the screen.

3. Samarasimha Reddy

Samarasimha Reddy is a revenge action drama released in 1999.

It had a huge success at the box office and is an all-time hit in the Telugu cinema. Balakrishna portrayed a factionist in the film, which was set against the backdrop of Rayalaseema.

Fans and critics both praised his performance in the film. Samarasimha Reddy also stars Anjala Zaveri and Simran, and this film has successfully earned a cult status in Tollywood.

4. Simha

Nandamuri Balakrishna portrays two different characters, a college lecturer and his father, in this 2010 film, Simha.

The son is a torch-bearer of justice in his town, and he seeks vengeance for the murder of his father.

Though it is a violence-laden film, it could successfully strike a chord among the audience, which made this film one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year.

Balayya got his second Nandi Award for Best Actor for Simha.
