The government came in with quick steps during the Covid-19 pandemic to address the nature of the economy, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said at the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav event on Tuesday.

“The government came in with quick steps during Covid-19 to address the nature of the economy. We have set pioneering steps in compliance norms for corporates,” she said.

She further added “Mergers are acquisitions are taking place in the country, in a big way. In FY22, MCA registered 1.67 lakh company incorporations as compared to 1.55 lakh in the previous fiscal”.

The finance minister also said to ensure that technologies are not misused, authorities and other bodies should be well advanced and ahead of the curve in their grasp of digitisation.

She further added Digital approaches will pervade the decade from 2020 onwards.

Sitharaman will be launching the Single Nodal Agency Dashboard today during the event in New Delhi today.

The Single Nodal Agency approach guarantees that funds for Centrally Sponsored Schemes are allocated to States in a timely manner and in accordance with various requirements.

The model’s successful implementation has resulted in increased efficiency in Centrally Sponsored Schemes fund utilisation, fund tracking, and pragmatic and just-in-time transfer of funds to States.
