In front of a capacity crowd at Citi Field on Wednesday night, Timmy Trumpet performed “Narcos” live before Edwin Diaz took the field in front of a roaring crowd at Citi Field as the Mets closer sealed a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. There was no doubt that it was a legitimate moment.

It would have been easy for you to think that this was Queen at Live Aid if you had been on Twitter when Diaz stepped out, but it is fitting because if the Mets are somehow able to ride Timmy Trumpet and Edwin Diaz to the World Series, this song will be essentially a Queens version of “We Are The Champions.” [Author smirks]

Last night, as I watched it unfold online, I commented that “only sports fans could convince themselves that watching someone play the trumpet for 30 seconds was the greatest thing they’ve ever seen.” It may have sounded more like a dig than intended because it was really pretty damn cool and it is just the kind of thing that can only happen when sports are good, and that was what I was talking about.

The idea of teams, fans, franchises, etc. adopting songs is exciting and sometimes has the potential to become a tradition in the future.

How Did Timmy Trumpet Help The Mets Beat The Dodgers In August?

In your opinion, does it make sense that Wisconsin students have been jumping around since 1998? No. Is it a lot of fun for them to do that? Yes.

In a future post about the Mets, I might consider referring to Timmy Trumpet (who I cannot just call “Trumpet,” but might consider referring to as “Mr. Trumpet” in future posts) as a Met. Last night was his first-ever baseball game, and he played “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” but as he didn’t have the opportunity to save the game, he decided to return to the game today.

Is he ever going to leave? There are some people who think that he shouldn’t do that.

There is no doubt that it is ridiculous, but it is also a legitimate suggestion. In the future, what are Timmy Trumpet and the Mets going to do? Despite having a great moment and winning a game over the Dodgers, it was still August, and the Mets had a lot of work to do.

They were going to need this in October if they wanted one, I don’t know what the technical term is, but whatever the ring finger touches on the trumpet in October.

Does Steve Cohen really have the kind of money to make an internationally touring DJ the team’s in-house trumpet player, just so he can perform 30-seconds a night on the team’s stage? Well, uh, yeah, I guess I could say that.

The MLB postseason begins on October 7th and he’s scheduled to play a festival in San Diego on October 9th, and then he only has three more dates announced up until November 5th, which is when he’s supposed to play a festival in Mexico called Beyond Monterrey.

There is also a possibility that Game 7 of the World Series may take place on that date. As a result, there will be a number of choices that need to be made.
