Solana is a highly functional open source project that banks on blockchain technology’s permissionless nature to provide decentralized finance (Defi) solutions. While the idea and initial work on the project began in 2017, Solana was officially launched in March 2020 by the Solana Foundation with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. It is aiming to kill major cryptocurrencies like Ethereum.

launched in 2011, was among the first cryptocurrencies to follow in the footsteps of Bitcoin and has often been referred to as “silver to Bitcoin’s gold.”

Other than developers, there are a growing number of merchants that accept Litecoin. As of March 14, 2022, Litecoin has a market capitalization of $7.4 billion and a per token value of around $106, making it the 21st-largest cryptocurrency in the world.

Dogecoin was created by two software engineers, Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, in 2013. Markus and Palmer reportedly created the coin as a joke, commenting on the wild speculation of the cryptocurrency market.

The price of DOGE hit an all-time high of approximately 0.74 cents during the week when Musk was scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live. As of March 14, 2022, Dogecoin’s market capitalization is $15.0 billion and one DOGE is valued at around 11 cents, making it the 13th-largest cryptocurrency.

6) Binance Coin

Binance operates the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. It makes sense, therefore, that Binance Coin (CRYPTO: BNB) is the third-most-popular digital coin in the market. It’s the native coin on the Binance exchange. Investors who pay transaction fees with Binance Coin receive discounts. Each quarter, Binance reduces the supply of digital coins based on trading volume. Over time, these quarterly coin “burns” will remove 100 million coins, which amounts to half of the total supply. These moves are intended to increase the value of Binance Coins.
