After ‘nightmare’ US Open Win, Nick Kyrgios Is In The Most Uncomfortable Of Positions

As Nick Kyrgios described his first-round victory over Thanasi Kokkinakis as ‘the most uncomfortable match of his career, he went on to win in straight sets to advance to the second round at Flushing Meadows.

On Monday evening, the doubles partners and great friends had to face off for the first time in their lives for the first time.

Earlier this year, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis shot to doubles stardom by winning the Australian Open in their debut tournament as a team.

When the two met for the first time as individuals, the former was considered a heavy favorite against the 70th-ranked player in the world.

Despite the fact that Kyrgios had a barnstorming run to the Wimbledon final last month, he entered the US Open as the 23rd seed. However, many people are expecting him to make a similar run at the US Open.

To kick off his campaign, he wasted no time in dispatching Kokkinakis with a routine 6-3 6-4 7-6 win to get the campaign off to a good start, although he later explained that the mental battle was anything but straightforward.

According to him, it was probably one of the most uncomfortable matches he had ever played in the course of his career.

When we both looked at the draw, it was quite a nightmare for both of us. In terms of my tennis career, I have a feeling that I will probably stay in touch with two or three players – if I’m being honest, two or three players – until I probably die, if I’m being honest.

When it comes to Thanasi, it is a difficult game to play. It helped me a lot when I blocked out my opponent, and that helped me a lot. I played well from the back of the court during the first couple of sets of the match.

“When the ball is on his racquet, he’s dictating play, and I didn’t want to be on the receiving end of that forehand tonight. He’s probably one of the best players in the world.

In my opinion, he is one of the best players in the world, and I told some people that I think he has had a great opportunity because of the way his body is, the way he’s holding up physically, and his determination to continue playing match after match.

As far as I was concerned, he had a good chance of going far in the draw. It is unfortunate that this has happened.

As a result of the way I’m playing and the goals I have, I felt that I had a good chance in this tournament as well. Let’s face it, it is what it is. In my opinion, I handled the situation in a fairly professional manner.

There will be a game between us, hopefully, it will not be the last time we play each other. We will just close that out at this point. I am just happy to be able to move forward with my life.”

In a bid to continue his US Open run, Kyrgios will face Benjamin Bonzi in his bid to advance beyond the second round of the tournament, and given the fact that Bonzi has never advanced beyond the second round of a Grand Slam, the Aussie may well fancy his chances.

While Kyrgios’ fans will continue to keep their fingers crossed that he will be able to replicate the success he found at Wimbledon, the 27-year-old himself claims that he cannot wait for the US Open to be over so he can return to his native Australia.

As her man played Thanasi Kokkinakis at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Tuesday, the glamorous WAG was front and center.

As she looked on, the 22-year-old wore reading glasses and a serious expression.

She wore a fitted top that accentuated her figure and wore her brunette locks down around her face.

Using a glossy dark pink lipstick and wearing multiple gold bangles, she chose a clean makeup look with a glossy dark pink lip stain.

Taking in the sights of the Big Apple on Saturday before the tennis star’s first-round match at the US Open, the couple looked in love.
