Even though Green technically has two years left on the four-year extension he signed before the 2019 season, he has the option to opt-out of that contract prior to the end of the current season before he reaches the final year of that deal.
A possibility such as that could force the Warriors’ hand in either direction at some point in the future.
There is a possibility that Draymond Green could explore other options for getting the contract he believes he deserves if the Warriors are not willing to offer him the max contract.
As it should be noted, Green also has a 15 percent trade kicker if the Warriors decide to move him as part of his current contract.
There is no doubt that Green and the Warriors are looking forward to defending their championship while the rest of the league is focused on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.
