It appeared that Will Smith was greeting onlookers with a smile, while his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, followed close behind him as they both left a restaurant after enjoying a delicious lunch.
In their first public appearance since Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards earlier this year, Will Smith, 53, and Jada Pinkett Smith, 50, looked happy and comfortable together.
On Aug. 13, the actor and actress were spotted walking close together outside Nobu restaurant in Malibu, CA.
In front of cameras and onlookers, Will flashed a smile and a peace sign while holding onto his shirt and waving at them.
A black button-down top, navy blue pants, and a white sneaker were worn by Jada, while he wore a navy blue shirt with a collar, matching navy blue pants, and a white sneaker.
Additionally, she wore sunglasses and hoop earrings. Afternoon sun made them look content and unbothered by the attention.
Will and Jada's outing comes after Will broke a long silence and spoke out about the slap in a YouTube video, which happened after Chris made a joke about Jada's shaved head.
In the clip, he apologized to Chris and his family, answered a few questions about the incident, and admitted he's been working on learning and healing.
I've spent the last three months replaying and understanding what happened in that moment. In the video, Will says, "I won't try to unpack all of that right now.".
There is no part of me that thinks that was the right thing to do. That's not the best way to deal with disrespect or insults, in my opinion."
Disappointing people is my central trauma," he continued. I hate letting people down. Knowing I didn't live up to people's expectations hurts me psychologically and emotionally.
I am deeply remorseful and I am trying not to be ashamed of myself while I am remorseful. I am a human being. As a result, I made a mistake. “I'm trying not to think of myself as a piece of s**t.”
