It was noticed about a week ago that Comic-Con 2022 did not mention Batgirl, the Warner Bros. film shot over the winter and scheduled for release in 2023.

According to the New York Post, The Wrap, and other entertainment outlets, Warner Bros. and DC Films will not release the film, even though it is in post-production.

Wikipedia's list of unreleased American films isn't long and the films usually have a reason for being there - such as the 1994 Fantastic Four effort or Netflix's shelved Bill Cosby 77 project.

According to the Post, Warner Bros. will release this film. As part of their efforts to cut costs, Discovery executive David Zaslav and Warner Bros.

Michael De Luca is focusing on movies made for theaters rather than streaming. Batgirl is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life) and stars Leslie Grace (In the Heights).

Warner Bros. believed the movie was "irredeemable" following poor test receptions, a source told The Post. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was not shown to these test audiences.

DC Films president Walter Hamada set out the previous strategy in early 2020 aimed at competing with Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe with DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and DC Films multiverse.

Up to four movies would be released in theaters a year, with one or two HBO Max exclusives. After that, the C-19 pandemic swept the globe and disrupted the release schedule.

HBO Max promised a director's cut of Zack Snyder's Justice League. "Snyder cut" hype is driven by bots and fake accounts, according to Rolling Stone. This further complicates efforts to save Batgirl.
