According to ESPN, Nazem Kadri has agreed to a contract with the Calgary Flames, ending weeks of speculation about his next NHL move. The Calgary Flames Have Signed Nazem Kadri To A 7-year Contract
According to a league source, the contract is for seven years and will carry a cap hit of $7 million per year.
The Flames are also working on a trade to send center Sean Monahan to the Montreal Canadiens to create salary-cap space for Kadri.
Kadri scored 87 points in 71 games for the Colorado Avalanche last season a career high His 13-year NHL career includes 10 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he scored 512 points in 739 games
In his career, Kadri has been suspended six times, including three times in the playoffs -- although he avoided any additional discipline during Colorado's Stanley Cup run.
As the weeks passed without an announcement, the New York Islanders, whose general manager, Lou Lamoriello, is notoriously tight-lipped about transactions, were rumored to have a deal in place.
For Tkachuk, the Flames acquired star left wing Jonathan Huberdeau and defenseman MacKenzie Weegar from the Panthers.
As a replacement for Gaudreau, Calgary signed Huberdeau to an eight-year contract worth $10.5 million.
