In an interview with National Public Radio, Brian Stelter confirmed that CNN is canceling its Sunday media affairs show Reliable Sources, and that he will be leaving the network.

During an interview with NPR, Stelter described how he is grateful for the show and the way that it examines "the media, the truth, and the stories that shape our world.".

According to him, "To lead a show devoted to the press at a time when the press has never been more consequential is a rare privilege," and promised to elaborate on Sunday's episode.

After blogging about cable news as a student, Stelter became a media reporter for The New York Times.

Stelter has hosted Reliable Sources for nine years; the show celebrated its 30th anniversary in March.

Chris Licht informed Stelter yesterday of the decision. With Warner Bros. at the helm, Licht has been cutting the network's programming. The acquisition of Time Warner by Discovery.

CNN canceled its standalone digital platform, CNN+, for which it had hired former NPR host Audie Cornish and former Fox News host Chris Wallace. (Both stars remain at CNN.)

NBC confirmed the show's demise and wished Stelter well in his future endeavors. Longtime Washington correspondent Bernard Kalb began the show, and longtime media reporter Howard Kurtz continued it.

Kurtz currently hosts only one major national television show that analyzes the news business and journalism, called MediaBuzz on Fox News. Kurtz rarely held Fox accountable during his tenure.
