Ronaldo will be asked by Manchester United this week when he will be allowed to start training with Erik ten Hag's squad, with time running out for the new manager to include him in his plans.

The 37-year-old, who wants to leave Brighton, has yet to work under Ten Hag as Brighton visits Old Trafford on 7 August for their season opener.

In the lead-up to United's fortnight summer tour to Thailand and Australia, Ronaldo was unable to begin training due to a family issue.

Ten Hag should include Ronaldo in his plans as soon as possible. Nevertheless, after a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in Perth on Monday, the manager has only a few days to prepare the forward.

The Red Devils play Atlético Madrid in Oslo on Saturday, before Ten Hag oversees Rayo Vallecano in his first home match on Sunday.

Ronaldo's need to be at home has been respected by United, and the manager said on Friday that he still hasn't heard from the Portuguese.

Now, Ronaldo will be asked when he feels ready to begin training. Because of Ten Hag's lack of preparation, even if this was to happen by Tuesday, Ronaldo may not be able to play against Brighton.

Ronaldo has missed the entire preseason so far, putting him four weeks behind those who began training last month. On 23 August, United hosts Liverpool before traveling to Brentford.
