“Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” has scored $10.7 million on its first day at the domestic box office, giving it a perfect chance to top the charts for the weekend.

There is a forecast for a $20 million opening for Crunchyroll's release in 3,007 locations, marking the widest release ever for the distributor.

A massive footprint is also being made in premium format auditoriums such as Imax, 4DX, and Dolby Cinemas for this anime film.

This marks a notable increase from the $9.8 million domestic opening score that "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" scored in 2018, the previous entry in the series.

It's also worth mentioning that this figure is a similar figure to Funimation's "Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie" which debuted to a $18 million debut in March of this year.

In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Piccolo and Gohan are forced to defeat the villainous Red Ribbon Army's schemes when two Androids called "Super Heroes" attack them.

In total, this is the 21st "Dragon Ball" film, but the second to carry the "Super" title. Since its June opening in Japan, the film has grossed about $18 million.

"Beast" appears to be lagging behind for second place. Friday's screening of Universal's thriller brought in $4.2 million, and the weekend's total is expected to reach $10.1 million.

In the film, Idris Elba portrays a doctor who has to protect his daughters from a very pissed off lion. A total of $36 million was spent on the production of the film.
