A poor start was made with Gill and Pujara not doing much as the first wicket fell for only 27 runs. Gill was out for 17 runs.

It was a poor start for India as it lost the first 5 wickets for just 98 runs, comprising Gill, Pujara, Vihari, Kohli, and Iyer, who couldn't contribute much to the innings

Pant played the first few balls slowly, but once his eyes were focused, he started scoring runs all around the ground. He scored 146 runs in 111 balls with 20 fours and 4 sixes.

A third century for Jadeja was scored in 194 balls in support of Pant, with 104 runs scored in 194 balls with 13 fours.

When England vs India 5th Test started on the second day, Bumrah took 3 wickets while watching his lotus-shaped bowling. Siraj and Shami also took one wicket each.

In his first Test as India's captain, Bumrah took 3 wickets and remained unbeaten on 31 runs at the crease. Due to rain, only 27 overs were played.
