Easton Oliverson of the Snow Canyon team out of Santa Clara, Utah fell off a top bunk and fractured his skull on Sunday night, according to his uncle Spencer Beck
According to Fox 13 in Salt Lake City, the 12-year-old was airlifted to a children's hospital in Danville for surgery after being treated at a local hospital.
Oliverson's family is optimistic that he will recover, according to Beck. Beck was quoted as saying, "He's a really good kid and very loving.". He smiles all the time.". "We are praying for him.".
A teammate of Oliverson's quickly asked for help after the fall woke him up, Beck told The Salt Lake Tribune.
“If that other player had not been awakened by him falling, he might not have made it to the finish line,” Beck told the paper.
On Friday, Snow Canyon will play its first Little League World Series game. According to multiple reports, Oliverson's dad is a coach on the team.
“Although our hearts are heavy, we are committed as a team to participate in something that others only dream of,” the team said.
On Friday, Snow Canyon became the Mountain Region champions and qualified for the Little League World Series for the first time.
