The superfans joined Mitchell for her first Newport performance in 20 years this weekend, including Marcus Mumford and Brandi Carlile.

Performing her first full-length live set in more than 20 years, folk icon Joni Mitchell wowed the crowd at the Newport Folk Festival on Sunday (July 24).

She appeared for the first time at the annual gathering since 1969 amid a parade of special guests paying tribute to Mitchell, who suffers from health issues and seldom appears in public.

In addition to Marcus Mumford, Brandi Carlile, Blake Mills, Lucius, Taylor Goldsmith, Wynonna, and others, Mitchell was backed by Marcus Mumford, Brandi Carlile, Blake Mills, Wynonna, and more.

In addition to blues songs, Michelle sang her favorite pop covers, such as the Persuasions' "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" and the Clover's "Love Potion No. 9."

She was a longtime fan and friend of Mitchell's and helped curate and organize her Newport performance at Carnegie Hall in November 2021.

Wynonna wipes tears while performing with Phil and Tim Hanseroth, Carlile's bandmates, during their collaboration on Mitchell's iconic 1969 song "Both Sides Now.".

Herbie Hancock, Sara Bareilles, Leon Bridges, Yola, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, and Herbie Hancock all performed at this year's MusiCares Person of the Year gala to honor Mitchell.

He played four songs at the concert, including "Graceland," "The Boxer," and "American Tune" (with Rhiannon Giddens) plus "The Sound of Silence."
