Memphis hosts this week's FedEx Cup Playoffs, but once again the upstart Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour casts a shadow over the event. Cameron Smith is the focus this time.

With wins at the Players Championship and the Open Championship at storied St. Andrews, the 28-year-old Aussie made a name for himself this year.

It may also be his last. According to the Telegraph, Smith has agreed to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV Golf. Over $100 million is reportedly involved in the deal.

On the RSN podcast, Cameron Percy revealed Smith's departure, along with Marc Leishman, by saying, "Unfortunate, yeah, they're gone.".

Smith did not confirm or deny his departure for LIV during his pre-tournament press conference at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first leg of the Playoffs.

I want to win the FedExCup Playoffs. Smith said before taking a shot at Percy, "That's all I'm here for.". "If I have anything to say about the PGA Tour or LIV, Cameron Smith will say it, not Cameron Percy.

There is no question that I am a man of my word. You can count on me to tell you anything you need to know if you need to know anything from me.

"I have no comment on that. My goal is to play in the FedExCup Playoffs. For the past week and a half, I've been focused on that. I'm here to win the FedExCup Playoffs, not Cameron Percy."

According to that report, Smith would be able to compete in all three FedEx Cup Playoff events, unlike players who have officially joined LIV and have been banned by the PGA Tour as a result.

If Smith had confirmed his deal with LIV, he would have also been banned and restricted from competing in the playoffs.

The person who was supposed to come over was actually my dad," Smith said. He is obviously kicking himself now.

Smith could win the PGA Tour's $18 million grand prize this month before leaving the Tour. As the No. 2 player in the FedEx Cup standings, he has a better chance than most.
