Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra covered a distance of 88.39m in his first attempt to make it to the final. The final of the competition will be held on Sunday.

A gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo Olympics brought laurels to the country once again. The World Athletics Championships have taken him to the finals.

During the current competition in Eugene, USA, Neeraj covered 88.39 meters in his first attempt and made it to the final. Rohit Yadav of India has also reached the final along with Neeraj.

A distance of 80.42 meters was covered by Rohit. On Sunday, the final match will be played. The women's category has already been won by India's Annu Rani.

Apart from 24-year-old Neeraj, 34 other athletes participated in this competition. Everyone was placed in two groups. Neeraj was in the first group and Rohit was placed in group B.

Neeraj made the third best throw of his career and made it to the final. A total of 12 players, including Neeraj and Rohit, have made it to the finals of javelin throw.

Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch also made it to the final by throwing a javelin 85.23m in his first attempt.

In addition to the Diamond League match in Turku, Neeraj Chopra will take part in the Kuortane Games before moving to Sweden to compete at the Stockholm games.
