In 1955, Emmett Till was a 14-year-old black boy from Mississippi who was abducted, tortured and lynched by whites in Mississippi.
In addition to telling the story of Till's death and his mother's courageous fight for justice, the film will be released in select theaters on Oct. 14 and in general release on Oct. 28.
On its opening weekend, "Till" will premiere at the 60th New York Film Festival in Lincoln Center. An exact date has not yet been announced.

Aside from Whoopi Goldberg, Frankie Faison, Haley Bennett, and Sean Patrick Thomas, the film is directed by Chukwu.
On Monday, the trailer showed Emmett's mother (played by Danielle Deadwyler) fighting back tears as she said, "This was my boy, Emmett Till.".
Emmett (played by Jalyn Hall) is then seen preparing for his visit to see his cousins. According to Emmett's mother, what happens to anyone, anywhere in the world, should be everyone's business.
Donham, then just Bryant, was working the register at her family's store in Money, Miss., in August 1955, when she accused Till of making improper advances toward her.
Since I did not know what was planned for Emmett, I could not stop it from happening," Donham, who is white, wrote in the manuscript written by her daughter-in-law.
“I tried to protect him by telling Roy that he wasn't the one. He's not like that. I would like you to take him home."
