Fans are starting to wonder if Johnny Depp will return to his best franchise now that the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard drama is kind of over.
Longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will go forward. Ted Elliot, one of the original writers, is returning to write the film.
Bringing Elliot back into the herd excited Jerry Bruckheimer. Bruckheimer expressed his excitement: "I'm very excited, it's going to be great.". The project is still in the planning stages.
We're still working on the screenplay, but it's very unique and features Ted Elliott, one of the original writers of the first movie.
This is great news, as we had reported that there were a few spin-offs taking place, essentially rebooting the series.
All-female Pirates of the Caribbean 6 would be directed by Margot Robbie, and Elliot would write the movie. It is likely that Depp will return at a later time.
It would be wise for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 to bring back Jack Sparrow, as the franchise might not be successful without him.
Historically, female reboots haven't quite worked out, so we're cautiously optimistic about Margot Robbie's film. She's a fantastic actress, so she might just take the franchise to the next level.
Another franchise reboot, remake, or sequel is Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Though reboots and remakes have been around for years, there seems to be a good recipe for rebooting a series correctly.
We hope Johnny Depp will return for Pirates of the Caribbean 6. It would suffice to have him make a small cameo, but if he appears to any extent, fans will be clamoring for more.
While we're not sure what Jerry Bruckheimer and Ted Elliot have planned, we can all look forward to re-entering the world of pirates.
