In Friday night's historic 28-5 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Blue Jays center fielder Raimel Tapia hit an inside-the-park grand slam.

It was possible for Tapia to accomplish this feat because of some awful defensive play by Red Sox center fielder Jarren Duran.

As the bases were loaded and Tapia had two outs, he struck out to center field. When Duran couldn't locate the ball, it flew over his head. Despite Duran's efforts, the ball was not recovered.

A four-run outburst from Tapia extended the Blue Jays' lead to 10-0 as he raced around the bases and scored easily.

MLB's Sarah Langs reports that Tapia's inside-the-park grand slam is the first since Michael A. Taylor in 2017. In 1989, Junior Felix also accomplished the feat at Fenway Park.

“I hit it on the barrel, but my thought was it wouldn't go too far,” Tapia said through an interpreter.

Duran described losing sight of the ball as the worst feeling ever and explained why he wasn't more aggressive in retrieving it.

In the twilight, I just lost it. It happens. He was nearby. I should have backed up a bit. He would get the ball before me I knew. My goal was to stay out of his way. I'll take a step or two next time
