There was a Western theme to the ceremony at which Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg tied the knot with businessman Tom Bernthal.

As a replacement, Sandberg will focus on "foundation and philanthropic work" rather than her role as COO at Meta - which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp - starting in autumn.

According to Forbes, the outgoing social media chief is estimated to have a net worth of $1.5 billion.

The announcement came at the same time that she was the subject of an internal company investigation for using company resources for the purpose of planning her nuptials.

Facebook's second-in-command shared a photo on Instagram of herself standing with her new husband in an idyllic woodland scene, captioned "MARRIED," with seven hearts.

It was not a coincidence that Bernthal, 50, based the consulting agency Kelton Global, shared the identical picture on his social media accounts, along with a personal message of affection.

"I don't think we expected to find love again after we both experienced loss, @sherylsandberg and I weren't sure we could find love again," he wrote.

It seems like we keep saying it to each other, 'We're all getting married,'" Sandberg reportedly said, referring to the fact that their households are now united.
