With World Day Against Child Labour approaching this month, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is all set to celebrate Elimination of Child Labour Week starting from June 12.

The celebrations will be accompanied by rescue operations being carried out at 75 places in different districts as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-75th anniversary celebration of India’s independence.

The State Commission, District authorities, Child Welfare Committee, DLSA, Child Line, Police/SJPU, Labour Department and other stakeholders will also be participating in the planned rescue operations.

The event is designed to focus on the problem of Child labour in the country and find effective solutions for it. This also includes providing necessary care to the children who are/have been a victim of child labour.

According to the press release, the NCPCR has been planning to create a link under the Balswaraj Portal for the rescue and rehabilitation process of victims of child labour. It has also drafted SOPs on the rescue and post-rescue of child labour considering all child-related provisions and acts.

NCPCR- a government body that functions to protect the rights of children- has been planning the event for quite a long time. The commission met with more than 800 officials to design the event appropriately.
