Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed that she earned "so much less" than her co-star Chris Pratt - even less than originally reported.
Variety reported in 2018 that Howard, 41, earned $2 million less than Pratt, 43, for "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" - making $8 million to Pratt's $10 million.
The actress, however, clarified in an interview with Insider that the gender pay gap was larger than initially reported and that it had been a long time coming.
“The reports were so interesting to me since I was paid so much less than what it even said on the reports, so much less than the reports even stated,” Howard said.
In 2014, when I started negotiating for 'Jurassic,' it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. "Unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, so your deals are set," she said.
Howard said she discussed her pay gap with Pratt, who helped push for equal pay on other franchise properties that don't have contracts set in stone, such as video games and theme parks.
When there was a chance to move the needle on stuff that hadn't been negotiated yet, like a game or a ride, Chris told me: "You guys don't even have to do anything."
Everything will be handled by me. We're going to be paid the same, Bryce, so don't worry about it," Howard said.
"I love him so much for doing that.". "I've been paid more for those kinds of things than I've ever been for a movie," she added.
Together, Howard and Pratt have appeared in three “Jurassic World” films, released in 2015, 2018 and 2022's “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
