Despite not having an international contingent in their last match, the Thorns return home.
In their third straight game at Providence Park, the Portland Thorns will face Gotham FC after two straight road matches.
Here are the current storylines
There have been seven straight games without a loss for the Thorns (4-1-6, 18 points).
Their high-profile players are currently away on international duty, which has left them third in the NWSL table.
As a result, they picked up two road draws during that stretch and maintained their position in the standings.
As the shorthanded Thorns already know, every home game comes with the expectation of three points.
Against Gotham FC (4-5-0, 12 points), a team struggling to climb out of the bottom half of the table, they will aim to achieve this.
In their last outing, the visitors ended a three-game losing streak by defeating Racing Louisville on the road, and they will look to continue the streak.
As well as their international contingent, the Thorns will be without Emily Menges, who is recovering from a foot injury.
As tonight marks the Thorns' last match until July 29, when the rest of their roster will return from international duty, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
