Manchester United Eager To Clarify Cristiano Ronaldo’s Position
There is a narrow window of opportunity for the new manager to incorporate the forward into his plans for the start of the new campaign.
It has been nearly two weeks since Brighton’s visit to Old Trafford for the season opener on 7 August. As yet, the 37-year-old, who wants to leave the club, has yet to take part in any training sessions under Ten Hag before Brighton’s trip.
Since Ronaldo was unable to begin training in the lead-up to the fortnight-long summer tour to Thailand and Australia due to a family issue, he was unable to make the trip to Thailand and Australia with United.
As a final word of congratulations to Calum Chambers after scoring Aston Villa’s late equalizer against Manchester United in Perth, he is seen in the photo below.
After Aston Villa’s Calum Chambers grabbed a 1-0 draw at Manchester United, Manchester United was left frustrated.
The goal of Ten Hag is to involve Ronaldo as soon as possible in the development of his plans.
It is, however, difficult for the manager to prepare the forward for the new season, particularly since Monday is a rest day after the squad flew back on a 20-hour flight via Bangkok immediately after their final tour match – a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on the road in Perth.
During the first half of the preseason, United travels to Oslo to face Atlético Madrid on Saturday, followed by Ten Hag taking charge of his first home game on Sunday, which is against Rayo Vallecano.
Despite Ronaldo’s desire to be at home, United has been respectful of his need to be at home. In fact, the manager said on Friday that he has still not been able to communicate with his national teammate while he is away.
There will, however, be a question now asked Ronaldo as to when he feels that he can make a start on training.
There is a possibility that Ten Hag will not be able to play Ronaldo against Brighton as early as Tuesday because of the lack of preparation he has shown so far.
Since Ronaldo has not participated in any of United’s pre-season sessions so far, he is currently four weeks behind the players who returned to training at the end of last month. As a result of the loss to Brighton, United will travel to Brentford the following weekend before hosting Liverpool on 23 August.
